Due to the increasing safety concerns regarding COVID 19 and the safety implementations our City Officials have put in place, we regret to inform everyone that the 10th Annual Spring Classic has been postponed. The Grand Prairie Police Department and the Spring Classic Board of Directors are looking at a future date and everyone will be notified once that is determined. We wanted to make everyone aware with as much advanced notice to cancel any plans to attend our Spring Classic while considering your safety as well as your families safety. We also want to thank our competitors and sponsors in advance for your understanding and patience as we wait for further guidance from our City, State and Federal Officials. Once we get a better hold of this pandemic, we will have a better idea of a date. We pray everyone stays healthy and takes care of themselves as well as their families.
The Grand Prairie Police Department is proud to host the 10th Annual Spring Classic Police Motorcycle Training and Skills Competition. This year’s competition will take place April 15-18, 2020. The main competition days will be Friday and Saturday, April 17th and 18th. The event will again be held at Grand Prairie Premium Outlets, and adjacent to Longhorn Harley-Davidson, located at 2950 W IH-20 (between Hwy 360 and Great Southwest Pkwy), Grand Prairie, TX.
Since the first competition we have continued to grow and evolve. In 2014 we were glad to be able to introduce a new element, hosting the 1st annual Spring Classic Civilian Motorcycle Competition in conjunction with the police competition. This competition allows civilian and police riders to compete on the same courses, helping to promote rider training amongst civilian motorcycle enthusiasts. This continues to be a unique element of our event and we are excited to carry on the tradition of allowing civilian riders to compete alongside police officers!
The four-day event brings together officers from across the region to participate in valuable training that keeps them safe while performing their normal duties. The competition allows the officers to have fun while showing off their riding skills in front of spectators and having an opportunity to interact with the public in a non-enforcement role. Through entry fees, sales and donations made at the event, and the support of our sponsors, we are able to make a sizeable contribution to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, and in turn support the Special Olympic Athletes and Special Olympics movement as a whole.
